The earliest cherry blossoms in 1200 years have been recorded in Japan this year.

This year, cherry blossoms in Japan began record early, and the peak season in Kyoto fell on March 26. On

At the moment, this cherry blossom is the earliest in the city in more than 1,200 years.

The previous record associated with cherry blossoms in this city was set in 1409. Then the peak of the season fell on March 27.

From historical records it follows that the period of full bloom of cherry blossoms, when most of the buds open, occurs in mid-April. 

This was most likely due to the effects of global warming.

The Japan Meteorological Agency monitors 58 sakura trees across the country, and 40 of them have already reached their peak flowering this year and 14 are in record time.
