The FDA will introduce a blockchain to track drug shipments.

A representative of the department, in a conversation with the publication, said that blockchain will reduce the likelihood that

Opiates and other dangerous drugs will not be transported to pharmacies, but to dealers and drug addicts.

Now the FDA is looking for companies that will be ready.participate in a pilot project. The application must be submitted before March 11, 2019, and by the end of the month, the agency will connect program participants to its distributed registry.

If the platform tests succeed, from 2023all hospitals and pharmacies in the United States will have to connect to it. The FDA believes that by this time Congress will pass a law allowing government departments to use distributed registry technology.

Previously, IBM Watson Health and the FDA have created a blockchain system to which medical data from American patients and the results of recent clinical trials will be transferred in the future.
