Russian copyright holders require 242 million rubles from DNS

It is reported that the Russian Union of Copyright Holders(RSP), headed by Nikita Mikhalkov, filed claims against DNS for a record amount of 242 million rubles. The trials will take place on April 28 and 29. At the same time, as experts note, the courts usually support the RSP.

We are talking about the so-called “tax on blanks”.According to the requirement, manufacturers and importers of electronics must transfer 1% of the cost of goods to the authors of musical works. At the same time, the collection does not concern discs directly, but gadgets that can broadcast music.

RSP had previously filed lawsuits against other electronics manufacturers - Hewlett-Packard, Dell, a subsidiary of Panasonic in Russia.
