The final statistics of the smartphone market for 2022: who wins?

Research company Canalys has summed up the results of 2022, which has become one of the most difficult years for the mobile market.

recent years. The global decline in smartphone sales was 11% and in numerical terms was less than 1.2 billion units. And although Samsung remained the market leader, having increased its share from 20 to 22% over the year, Apple continues to breathe in its back, also increasing from 17% to 19%. But Chinese vendors recorded a decline: Xiaomi from 14 to 13% due to problems in India, OPPO from 11 to 9% and Vivo from 10 to 9%.

But the most interesting thing happened in the fourthquarter of the year when every fourth (!) sold smartphone on the planet had a bitten apple logo. According to the calculations, Apple not only deprived Samsung of the crown by taking 25% of the market, but also updated its own record: never before had it managed to climb so high. Despite the decrease in the share from 13 to 11%, Xiaomi managed to stay in the top three - OPPO, which was catching up with it, lacked quite a bit (10%). Vivo showed stability, retaining last year's share of 8% of global sales.

In 2023, analysts expectmarginal growth or stagnation at best, leaving leading brands to take a cautious approach aimed at improving profitability. In other words, we are most likely awaiting “optimization” the fillings of gadgets in the sense of the word that is so familiar to the residents of Russia.
