The first private space station Starlab will enter Earth orbit in 2027

Nanoracks, Voyager Space and Lockheed Martin announced on October 21 that they plan to create a private space station.

free flight in low Earth orbit(NOO) by 2027. The outpost, named Starlab, is intended to become a tourist destination, as well as a center of research and production, promoting the growth of an extraterrestrial economy.

“To satisfy needsgovernment, international space agencies, and commercial space organizations, industry leaders will develop Starlab specifically to address the growing space economy and meet customer demand for space-based services such as materials research, plant growth, and astronaut activities”, – the three companies said in a press release.

Starlab station, designed for four people,will be lifted into the air during a single launch, expected to take place in 2027. The outpost will consist of a habitat module with an internal volume of 340 cubic meters, a power and propulsion system, a laboratory installation and a large external robotic arm for servicing payloads and cargo.

To understand the situation: the internal volume of the entire International Space Station (ISS) is 916 cubic meters.
