The first season of Playdate games will not be released simultaneously on all consoles

One of the most intriguing aspects of Panic's Playdate – in addition to her beautiful “faucet” – is unique

a game delivery method that will deliver 24 free games to your device. Panic plans to release a season of games (Season One), two games at a time each week.

We would like to remind you that the editorsggnotified you about the start of pre-orders for an unusualgame console. In a new FAQ released on Wednesday, Panic explains a little more about how this will work and says that due to limited production capacity, not all users will be able to start playing the new games at the same time

All Playdate will download new gamesweekly on “New Game Day” while they are connected to Wi-Fi, starting with the first two games when the device is connected. The catch is that not all customers will be able to get their Playdate online on day one due to limited pre-orders.

This means that instead ofsynchronized with the entire Playdate circulation (which was implied in Panic's original “Game Season” proposal), players from the second queue will receive games gradually, in the same rhythm as device owners from the pre-order pool, but from the moment of activation consoles. Panic explains that this slight adjustment is due to what level of production and distribution is possible during the pandemic:

Our original dream was to completelya synchronized season for all owners, but this has proven to be very difficult to implement in actual production (a factory can only produce a certain number of consoles per week) and distribution (international package delivery is also not that reliable).

If Panic does decide to release a second seasongames (Season Two), the company says it will be able to carry out its original plan since many people will already actually own Playdate. The company also makes it clear that while Playdate will automatically download games, you're not obligated to only play them. You can delete games at any time if you need to free up space on your device, and download games again whenever you want.

Editorialggconsiders this approach to be correct, since anticipation only enhances pleasure.
