The first smartphone with HarmonyOS may be the Huawei P40

At the Huawei 2019 developer conference in China, the company presented its HarmonyOS operating system.

Perhaps next year they will start using it in a smartphone.

Company representatives reported that the OS has not yetdesigned for smartphones and currently focused on smart home devices. Huawei intends to continue using Android for smartphones, and if banned, it will quickly switch to HarmonyOS within a day or two.

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, said,that if the situation with the US government does not change, the company will start using its OS, starting with the Huawei P40, which is due to be released next year. Also, when asked whether the brand will sell its Kirin chipset to other manufacturers, he said that they are still discussing this issue:

“Now we produce the chip only for our own use, but are considering selling in other industries, such as the Internet of Things (IoT). We are thinking it over. ”
