Company representatives said that the OS has not yetDesigned for smartphones and currently targeted at smart home devices. Huawei intends to continue to use Android for smartphones, and in the event of a ban, it will quickly switch to HarmonyOS within one or two days.
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, saidthat if the situation with the US government does not change, the company will begin to use its OS, starting with the Huawei P40, which is due to be released next year. Also, when asked whether the brand will sell its Kirin chipset to other manufacturers, he said that they are still discussing this issue:
“Now we produce the chip only for our own use, but are considering selling in other industries, such as the Internet of Things (IoT). We are thinking it over. ”
