The Gamaleya Center learned to update the vaccine for COVID-19 mutations in 2 days

Director of the center Alexander Ginzburg said that the development is identical to technology based on adenoviral

vectors: in it, based on the sequence of the spike protein, with a changed primary structure, a new sequence is synthesized literally within 24 hours.

Therefore, the very next day it is inserted into the used vector, and it can be used as a vaccine preparation.

According to Gunzburg, the question arises whether it is necessarycarry out all phases of testing the updated vaccine. For example, in world practice there are cases when the drug was allowed to be tested on a limited sample of up to 100 people.

If it gives the same adequate protective effect, but against a new strain, it can be immediately launched into mass production. I hope that in the near future similar acts will be adopted in our country.

Alexander Gintsburg, director of the research center

If the updated vaccine provides the same adequate protective effect against the new strain, then it can be immediately put into mass production, says the director of the center.
