The head of Xiaomi told when it is worth waiting for the appearance of smartphones with a sub-screen front camera

2020 is in the yard, which means that in the near future we will see many new smartphones with

using the most advanced technologies. One of these expected developments is the front camera, hidden directly below the device’s display. But, as it turned out, this direction does not have such bright prospects - judging by the words of the head of Xiaomi, it is hardly worth waiting for the appearance of commercial devices using a similar design of the front camera in the near future.

Literally today, January 29, the president of XiaomiGroup China and Redmi CEO Lu Weibing officially announced that although at the moment many manufacturers are working on such a technology, the current level of its implementation leaves much to be desired. So, the screen above the camera still does not transmit a sufficient amount of light, and therefore the photos received are of rather poor quality. If manufacturers reduce the pixel density above the camera, then the display area above the front-end becomes extremely noticeable, which immediately catches the eye.

Mr. Weibing also added that modernTechnologies still do not allow to solve this problem delicately enough so that smartphones with a sub-screen front camera can be launched in a wide circulation. Thus, from his words it follows that in the near future we are hardly worth waiting for the appearance on the shelves of devices equipped with such an expected technology.
