The iPhone camera will reach a new level, but only in a year (details)

Less than two months separate us from the new generation of iPhone. The update will be big by Apple standards, because according to

at least two older models will refuselegendary “eyebrow” in favor of holes for the front camera and sensors, and will also offer a 48-megapixel main camera with small pixels instead of a 12-megapixel analogue with large ones. Most likely, this will be the only significant change in terms of the camera, and those who expect a high degree of digital zoom from the iPhone should wait another year. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is entering a two-year production cycle associated with the introduction of periscope optics to the telephoto lens of its smartphones. For the first time we will see such a camera in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and after another year such a module will appear in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

According to the specialist, in both cases the basicthe characteristics will be as follows: 12 megapixels, 1/3″, f/2.8, sensor shift stabilization, optical zoom 5-6x. The whole main intrigue lies in the performance of the prisms. A structure is being considered where there will be one High-ASP 1G2P lens, two High-ASP prisms and a holder for them. Assembly will be more complex compared to existing solutions, and therefore suppliers have already begun to rebuild and invest. The issue of cost remains open and will remain so until the start of production approaches. In any case, component suppliers will receive a significant increase in income. According to analyst estimates, in some cases this growth could be 60-70%. In the meantime, we are waiting for the iPhone 14 and its new camera paradigm.
