The developers of The Last of Us: Part 2 said back in September that the game would not have multiplayer at launch.

The candidate is offered to work on server technologies, the network core of the game, organizing matches, storing player data, and so on. It looks like The Last of Us:Part 2 will still have a multiplayer mode, but not in the form familiar to gamers. Back in September, the developers wrote that gamers would still “reap the fruits of the team’s online ambitions,” just not as part of the game itself.

"We wanted to talk about multiplayer in The Lastof Us Part II. As we said, the single-player campaign is the most ambitious project Naughty Dog has ever undertaken. We wanted to support both visions, so we made the difficult decision that The Last of Us Part II will not have multiplayer.

When Sony first opened pre-ordersOn the physical versions of The Last of Us 2, gamers noticed that the game would be released on two discs. Apparently, Naughty Dog is making a large project that does not fit on one standard Blu-ray disc.
