Stewart is not the first criminal to be convictedby fingerprints identified from a photograph, but this is another reminder that our fingerprints are far from the top secret identifiers, as we often think.
He shared this photo on EncroChat, allegedlyan encrypted social network that was hacked by the authorities in March last year. Since then, the Merseyside police say authorities have identified some 10,000 users in the UK who are "involved in coordinating and planning the supply and distribution of drugs and weapons, money laundering and other criminal activities." Police said a total of 60,000 social media users have been identified worldwide.
