SpinLaunch explored alternative ways to launch satellites and other spacecraft into space and
SpinLaunch works like a giant accelerator fromelectric drive: according to the developers, it can reduce fuel consumption by four times and costs by 10 times compared to traditional rocket launches. This will also have a positive impact on the environment. SpinLaunch will launch several payloads into orbit every day, the startup notes.
The suborbital accelerator consists of a verticala disc-shaped vacuum chamber: the entire structure is slightly taller than the Statue of Liberty. There is also a carbon fiber cable inside to propel the object to a speed of 8,047 km/h. After that, it is sent into the atmosphere through the launch tube.
The SpinLaunch accelerator is designed to launch satellites weighing 200 kg into orbit.
The startup noted that the system has already been tested and confirmed its reliability.
