The new exoskeleton suit lasts 6 hours and helps to carry loads of up to 100 kg

The development of the exoskeleton took place as part of a four-year project called the Taiwan Program

Iron Man" (“Taiwan Ironman program”). The new suit costs about $5.74 million and is charged by a lithium battery module.

The operating time without recharging is more than six hours.

To reduce soldier fatigue when carryingheavy objects, we began developing a power suit for the military in 2020. It can be used in field operations and movement of ammunition and heavy-duty weapons, and can enhance the mobility and effectiveness of troops in rescue missions during wartime and after natural disasters.

Jen Kuo-kuang, chief exoskeleton developer

The exoskeleton allows the user to liftheavy objects and move at a speed of 6 km/h. The suit also helps to carry loads over long distances, while reducing the load on the legs and hip joints.

A person wearing an exoskeleton can lift up to 100 kg. The developers note that this property will be useful during combat operations.

The authors plan to develop a new version of the suit by 2023.
