The new wing of the aircraft can change its length right in flight

The inventor has created an experimental aircraft with a transformable wing: it can extend up to 40 cm

to reduce speed and change the angle of attack during takeoff and landing.

The wings are custom designed and have double slats on the leading edge, and there are large flaps and lowered ailerons on the trailing edge.

The slats form a nearly seamless part of the wing, but can flare out: they are designed to keep the center of lift close to the center of the wing. 

Without slats, the pilot would have to use almost all the power of the elevator to adjust the flaps and keep the nose up.
