The number of IT crimes in Russia grew by 70% in 2019

In the first nine months of 2019, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recorded 201.7 thousand.IT-related crimes.

Most often scammers have committed crimes withusing mobile communications, bank cards and the Internet, noted in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During this period, 14.2 thousand people were identified who committed 66.8 thefts using technology.

The total amount of material damage from theft using IT technology for 9 months amounted to more than 10 billion rubles.

In Russia, from the second half of 2018 toat the beginning of 2019, the damage from all types of cyber attacks against banks decreased by 85%. The volume of thefts decreased to 510 million rubles during the reporting period compared to 3.2 billion rubles for the previous period. At the same time, losses from targeted attacks on banks by hacker groups decreased 14 times - to 93 million rubles, and the average amount of theft dropped to 31 million rubles from 118 million rubles in the previous period.
