The oldest Voyager 1 mission has a strange glitch that cannot be fixed

Now engineers are looking at decades-old manuals to find a solution.

The nearly identical Voyager 2 mission was launched in 1977 to study Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and their moons.Voyager 1 is now about 23.3 billion km away fromland and sends data from there.

Voyager 1 was designed and built in the early 1970s, which makes it harder to troubleshoot. The mission has a spacecraft attitude control system, it sendstelemetry back to NASA.

“Telemetry data is, in fact, confirmationsystem performance,” NASA explained. But now the telemetry data that spacecraft operators receive from the system is garbled. Therefore, it is unknown if the orientation system is working properly.

So far, engineers have not been able to find the root cause of the crash, mainly because they can't reboot the system. 

According to the data that the device continuessend, there are many high-energy charged particles around it. If one of them gets on a mission, it can cause serious damage to the electronics.
