The robot itself vaccinates people: for this it does not need needles

The company, founded at the University of Waterloo's technology startup incubator, unveiled its first

a robot that can performintramuscular injections and, in particular, vaccinate people. It's called Cobionix (Cobionix) - Cobi for short. Its peculiarity is that it does not require a needle for vaccination. Instead, it uses a high-pressure jet of liquid, no thicker than a human hair, to inject the vaccine contents into human tissue.

"Cobi  is a universal robotica platform that can be quickly deployed to perform tasks with 100% autonomy,” said Tim Lasswell, co-founder and CEO of Cobionix.

As the authors of the development note, the advantage of Cobiin that it uses needleless injection technology, and this helps to vaccinate people without the participation of a medical professional. Also, the robot can scan person's identity documents and check their authenticity. After that, Cobi himself searches for the ideal place on the patient's body for vaccination.

While only a prototype has been created, it will take time before Cobi becomes fully autonomous, but manufacturers are already pinning high hopes on it.
