One of the new rover's main missions is to collect carefully selected samples of Martian rock and soil.
The rover dropped 10 test tubes with samples toTo “celebrate” this, I took a couple of selfies with several test tubes on a specially designated area of Mars. According to NASA, the “sample repository” is located in Jezero Crater, in an area called the “Three Forks.”
The Perseverance rover took a selfie with several of the 10 sample tubes it placed on the surface of Mars.

The rover took a selfie on the 682nd Martian dayor a solo mission using a WATSON camera (Wide Angle Topographic Sensor for Operations and eNgineering). It is located at the end of the rover's special robotic arm.

Selfies consist of 56 individual WATSON images.which NASA sewed together after being sent to Earth. In this image, the ninth tube dropped by Perseverance is clearly visible next to the rover. Other sample tubes are also visible.
