The Russians sued Sony: they demand to return access to games on the PlayStation, and also 280 million rubles in compensation

Russians continue to increasingly feel the consequences of sanctions imposed against the aggressor country due to

invasion of Ukraine. This time, the owners of PlayStation game consoles are outraged. They were so outraged that they filed a class action lawsuit.

What does it mean?

As the Russian media write, Khoroshevsky District CourtMoscow registered a class action lawsuit against Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Limited (Sony's European division) and the company's Moscow office. The lawsuit lists 28 names of the plaintiffs.

All of them demand to return access to the PlayStationStore and the ability to buy PlayStation games. Moreover, the plaintiffs swung at compensation: they estimated their moral damage at 280 million rubles, or 10 million per person.

The lawsuit states that the terms of useSony programs and Russian law do not provide for a refusal to provide a service “in connection with the domestic and foreign policy of the state of location and residence of users”, and the company’s unilateral refusal violates the rights of users of game consoles and services.

Recall that in early March, Sony officiallyannounced that it was stopping the supply of game consoles to the country and closing the PlayStation Store in Russia. That is, Russian users can no longer buy new games and pay for subscriptions.
