The SLS moon rocket will start to suffer catastrophic damage if it does not go into space

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) may face

irreparable consequences if the Space Launch System (SLS) lunar rocket does not launch.

What is known

The day before, we wrote that NASA postponed the launchrockets from 14 to 16 (or 19) November. Tropical Storm Nicole has become a new reason for the postponement of the launch date of the Artemis I mission. However, the agency will not be able to permanently delay the launch of a lunar rocket.

At the beginning of winter, the expiration dates of bothaccelerators developed by Northrop Grumman. Work on their creation was carried out for almost two years, and the guarantee was issued for a year, after which it was extended for another 12 months. Nevertheless, even the two-year expiration date of the accelerators expires in a month - on December 9 and 14.

If NASA fails to send a rocket into space inNovember, the Artemis I mission is likely to be delayed indefinitely. Space agency specialists will be forced to analyze rocket boosters to extend their service life, but there is no guarantee that the procedure will be completed successfully.

But not only boosters have an expiration date. The service life of other key components is coming to an end. The mobile unit, which rolled out the SLS with the Orion spacecraft four times to the launch pad, is also wearing out. If NASA does not send SLS into space, then sooner or later the agency will face catastrophic consequences - the lunar rocket will simply begin to collapse, and the scale will reach such proportions that it will not be possible to correct the situation.
