Analytical company Zendrive shared statistics on smartphones and related traffic accidents. It turned out
Statistics was obtained taking into account almost 260billion kilometers of the road. Last year, drivers with a smartphone in their hands caused the death of 6,227 pedestrians in the United States out of a total of 35,000. At the same time, they began to be distracted by 10% more often, which seriously reduces their driving skills: they ignore a third of the way, drive more slowly, belatedly slow down and accelerate. According to the study, the reaction level of such a driver corresponds to a person with a blood alcohol level of 0.8 (In Ukraine, the permissible rate for driving is 0.2, in the USA - 0.5-0.8, depending on the state).
Additionally aggravates the situation that suchpeople behind the wheel are much more drunk and they are on the roads at the very peak of loading - from 7 to 18 hours. Drunk drivers, in turn, often appear from midnight to 3 am, when the roads are empty.
