What is known

The sixth generation fighter is being developed asreplacement for Eurofighter Typhoon and Mitsubishi F-2. The new aircraft is expected to be ready by 2035. At the same time, the sixth generation fighters will appear in the United States and China.

The UK is working on the Tempest project with Italy and Japan. By the end of spring 2025, the British government will invest £2 billion in the program.

The entire life cycle of a fifth generation fighterwill span several decades, creating thousands of jobs and economic value for the UK. The program is expected to employ more than 20,000 people and boost the UK economy by over £26 billion by 2050.
