The Royal Navy has unveiled the unusual ship XV Patrick Blackett.

The new product was shown in the port of Portsmouth.The ship was named after Nobel Prize winner Patrick Blackett. The vessel is 42 meters long and is designed to test new technologies and autonomous systems. The ship will be used by specialists from the NavyX innovative technology department.
"The arrival of this ship marks a turning point in NavyX's ability to deliver technology to the Royal Navy," said Colonel Tom Ryall, head of the NavyX project.
According to the Ministry of DefenseUK, the cost of the XV Patrick Blackett is $11,350,000. The production of the new item was carried out by the Dutch company Damen. The ship is capable of speeds of up to 20 knots. In the near future, XV Patrick Blackett will take part in Royal Navy and NATO exercises.
