The United States has developed a draft "Bill of Rights" for artificial intelligence

The development of technology poses serious challenges to democracy and basic values ​​and human rights, note

document developers.But at the same time, it is no longer possible to refuse all the advantages that automated data collection and processing systems create. To strike a balance between protecting privacy and progress, the White House suggests that all AI developers should be guided by five simple principles.

The authors of the document highlight the following areas:

• building safe and efficient systems;
• protection from discrimination by algorithms;
• ensuring data confidentiality;
• explaining to users how the system works and notifying them of significant actions;
• the ability to choose a person as an alternative to a machine.

The document states that it is nota law in itself, but combines principles to be used in the development of public systems that affect human rights, and is also recommended to all developers of automated systems.

In addition to describing the key approaches that should becomply with the system, the AI ​​Bill of Rights also provides examples of best practices on how different companies have implemented a particular principle in practice. It is noted that the document appeared after a year of consultations with more than two dozen different departments, and also includes feedback from technology companies, representatives of civil society, enterprises and researchers.
