The update turns Samsung Galaxy M31 smartphones into “bricks” (updated: in the Indian market)

Recently, Samsung released an update for the Galaxy M31 smartphones, already on sale in the Indian market

(in general, the entire M-series was originally created forthis market), after which the device owners started having problems. At the moment, the over-the-air update has been suspended by the company and will resume when the problem is resolved (and, apparently, this will be a different firmware version)

Something went wrong

Firmware with build indexM315FXXU1ATD1 contained the April security patch. But users from India who received it began to complain on forums, on social networks and in the proprietary Samsung Members application that their smartphones turned into “bricks” after the update. The problem is aggravated by the fact that repairing a phone requires a physical visit to a service center, which is impossible under the quarantine announced until April 30.

It is worth saying that not everyone experienced the problem.users, however, Samsung representatives drew attention to it and suspended the distribution of the update. The M315FXXU1ATD1 firmware is no longer distributed over the air. By the way, recently the same problem occurred with the Galaxy A70 smartphones, which began to receive an update from Android 10. At that time, the problem was of a hardware nature due to the firmware not matching the printed circuit board responsible for charging and powering the smartphone (some phones used outdated version of the board, which required its replacement after an unsuccessful update at the service center). It is not yet known how the case with the Galaxy A70 corresponds to the current situation with the Galaxy M31, but the difference is that Samsung quickly responded by stopping the distribution of the problematic version of the Galaxy M31 firmware in the Indian market.

According to information from the Ukrainian officeSamsung, Galaxy M31 models for our market will (of course) have a different firmware version adapted for the Ukrainian market and, accordingly, should not have such a problem.
