The USA will test the technology of extracting fuel directly from the air

The US military plans to use carbon dioxide to create a carbon-neutral

E-Jet jet fuel anywhere on the planet. The proposed technology is expected to use carbon dioxide, water and renewable energy.

If the test is successful, it will beginmass production of synthetic fuels without processing coal, natural gas or even biofuels. In addition to carbon dioxide, water can also be obtained from the air.

It is noted that it is important for air forces around the world to have access to fuel and sometimes this turns into a major logistical problem, especially outside their own country.

Therefore, the military decided to turn to technology fromcompany Twelve, which is called industrial photosynthesis. It uses electrolysis and uses a polymer electrolytic membrane to split carbon dioxide and water into separate ions.

Then it all turns into oxygen, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The resulting components are converted by the Fischer-Tropsch process into hydrocarbons, including aviation fuel.

Testing of this method will continue until December 2021. If the technology proves successful, it will be used for military purposes.
