Tests of the “High Energy Laser Self-Defense Demonstrator” (SHiELD) took place at the White missile range

The development of SHiELD Air Force worked together with Lockheed Martin. The first flight tests of the system are scheduled for 2021. It is planned that it will be put into service no earlier than 2022.

Previously, the French company MBDA, along withLaboratory ALPhANOV launched a project to study the effects of combat lasers on various materials and in different conditions. In the future, the experiment will create lasers for the needs of the army.
