The weapon of the future will appear in Europe - the electromagnetic railgun

The initial phase of the project costs 1.5 million euros and will last 24 months. During the research work it will be given

theoretical justification for the feasibility of a weapon project based on an electromagnetic railgun and its feasibility for military use in the future.

Electric vehicle railgun being assembledused as a multi-purpose ship complex capable of destroying air targets, including the latest fighters and cruise missiles, surface targets, as well as hitting ground targets on the coast.

It will look like a weapon system, inwhich has two conductive guides (rails), between which either a conductive projectile or a conductive carriage with a projectile made of dielectric materials is installed. To fire, the gun requires a short-term supply of high voltage and current, which cannot be provided by a simple connection to the electrical network: the projectile accelerates to 2.5 km/s.

First of all, such a development should withstand anti-ship hypersonic missiles.

Railguns will be able to fire high-energy projectiles with a frequency of at least 50 rounds per second and will become the main line of defense against promising anti-ship weapons.
