What is known
For the first half of 2019 CD Projekt CapitalGroup received 214.4 million Polish zlotys, equal to $53,826,745. Half of the revenue (51.2%) came from the Witcher franchise, including Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which sold 40 million copies. The game's expansions and spin-offs, such as Thronebreaker and GWENT, also generate revenue.
As for plans, CD Projekt is movingon a “dual franchise” model and will simultaneously develop The Witcher series, as well as the Cyberpunk universe. This means that gamers will see the conditional “The Witcher 4” and will be able to play the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 if the launch is successful.
The projects will be handled by two independentteams that can work in parallel to support The Witcher and Cyberpunk. The report says that this “migration” to the new model is due to the company’s desire to optimize production and financial activities.
"Managing two separate large franchises(The Witcher and Cyberpunk) together with multiple independent development teams allows the Company to work on multiple projects in parallel, establishing a long-term release schedule,” the report said.
