The world's first COVID-19 vaccine for animals registered in Russia

As stated by Konstantin Savenkov, deputy head of Rosselkhoznadzor, the new drug was named

"Carnivac Cove." It was developed in  subordinate service "Federal Center for Animal Health".

Savenkov noted that it is now the first and only prophylactic drug for animals in the world.

During its development, the following were involved:

  • dogs,
  • cats,
  • arctic foxes,
  • minks,
  • foxes
  • and other animals.

Research is currently ongoing — scientists are finding out how long it takes for immunity to develop after an injection: today this figure is at least six months.

Already in April, mass production of the vaccine can be launched, which will be dealt with by the Federal Center for Animal Health.

It should be noted, however, that the scientificthere is no evidence of the transmission of a new coronavirus infection from animals to humans, the World Health Organization has reported this more than once. In addition, it must be emphasized that animals can also become infected with some other species from the coronavirus family that are different from COVID-19.
