As part of the scientific work, the data of electronic medical records of 500 thousand patients in the United States were studied. Of these, 83.5 thousand were found to have COVID-19. At the same time, 3.4 thousand people from this number were prescribed SSRIs.

Scientists have come to the conclusion that those who tookfluoxetine was 28% less likely to die from infection than controls. In general, taking any SSRI was associated with an 8% reduction in the risk of death in coronavirus infection.
