Three simple methods reduce risk of aggressive cancer by 61% in people aged 70+

Research has shown that vitamin D suppresses the growth of cancer cells. Likewise, omega-3 may

inhibit the transformation of normal cells into cancer cells, and exercise has been shown to improve immune function and reduce inflammation, which may help prevent cancer.

Cancer is considered one of the dominant agediseases in Europe and the USA. It is the second leading cause of death among the elderly, and the likelihood of developing one type of cancer increases with age.

Previously, there was a lack of reliable clinical studies proving the effectiveness of these three simple methods alone or in combination.

According to Dr. Heike Bischoff-Ferrari ofAt the University Hospital of Zurich, she and colleagues wanted to fill these gaps in knowledge and tested the effects of daily high doses of vitamin D3, a form of vitamin D supplementation, as well as daily omega-3 supplements and a simple home exercise program.

To do this, the authors conducted the DO-HEALTH study: a three-year study in five European countries - Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria and Portugal - involving 2,157 people.

The results show that all three treatments—vitamin D3, omega-3s, and exercise—worked well together to reduce the risk of developing severe cancers.

Individually, each of the treatments had little individual benefit, but together they showed a 61% reduction in cancer risk.
