We discovered a previously unknown type on Venustectonic deformations that were generated by certain processes in the mantle of the planet - similar to what happens on Earth. ​Before this, we had not found traces of the existence of matter flows inside the mantle of Venus.

In the pictures, the authors saw unusual structures,which in their appearance resemble heaps of ice debris that periodically appear on the surface of terrestrial lakes or seas as a result of the compression of their ice cover. On Venus, these structures appeared due to the deformation of solidified lava flows.

Such processes were not isolated, but affected the entire surface of the planet. 

The authors suggested that the source of deformationsserve as unknown forms of tectonic processes in the bowels of Venus, associated with the formation of flows of hot matter in its mantle. So far, scientists certainly do not know the cause of these processes and their source. Research continues.
