TSMC invests $12 billion to build cutting-edge 3nm chip manufacturing facility in the US

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will soon announce the start of construction of a new advanced plant

for the production of chips in the United States. The Wall Street Journal reports this.

What is known

New plant to be built north of Phoenix(Arizona). The Taiwanese giant plans to invest $12 billion in the creation of semiconductor production. Construction will begin in December this year. The new enterprise will be engaged in the production of advanced chips made according to the standards of 3-nm technology.

Expansion of semiconductor productionproducts can be read as TSMC's long-term optimism for chip demand in the face of the turmoil that hits the market in 2022. Despite the crisis in the industry, companies expect the semiconductor market to double in size over the next decade and be valued at more than $1 trillion.

Start of mass production of chips on a newplant in Arizona scheduled for 2024. The enterprise, in addition to 3-nm chips, will produce microcircuits using 5 nm and 4 nm technological processors.
