Turkish attack drone Bayraktar Akinci was first seen on the battlefield

A Turkish attack drone, Bayraktar Akinci, was spotted in northern Syria. This is the first use of an unmanned

aircraft in a combat zone.

What is known

It is assumed that Bayraktar Akinci carried outintelligence mission in Syria. However, later it became known about the air strikes on the positions of the Kurds. Whether these two events are somehow related to each other is still unknown.

Bayraktar Akinci is a Turkish percussiondrone developed by Baykar. It can be equipped with two Ukrainian AI-450T turboprop engines with a capacity of 450 horsepower. The drone is capable of flying for 24 hours without landing.

The unmanned aerial vehicle has ninehanging points for weapons. Bayraktar Akinci can carry air-to-air missiles with a range of up to 100 km, SOM cruise missiles with a range of more than 275 km, MAM-C and MAM-L bombs.
