Two legacy consoles to ditch Netflix this summer

2021 has just begun, but it's already not the best year for owners of old Nintendo consoles. The company announced

which will disable the popular streaming service for Wii U and 3DS users in the summer.

Goodbye Netflix

Nintendo removed Netflix on December 31, 2020from the digital eShop, so new users will not be able to download the app for their consoles. But in the summer of 2021, the service will stop working completely, even if the application is already installed on Wii U or 3DS.

So now owners of Nintendo consoles will be able to watch TV series only on Switch. Users of Sony and Microsoft consoles are luckier - Netflix still works on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Note that this is the second “call” indicatingat the end of the Nintendo 3DS life cycle. In September 2020, “Big N” curtailed the production of “portables” and announced that it does not plan to release new versions. At the same time, back in 2019, the president of the American division, Doug Bowser, said that the 3DS will live as long as there is consumer demand.
