Two steps back from Galaxy Buds Live: Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds score just 3 points for maintainability

In mid-January, along with the flagship Galaxy S21, Samsung introduced new wireless headphones Galaxy Buds

Pro. They have already reached iFixit specialists, who disassembled them and assessed their repairability.

The headphones are quite easy to disassemble:The housing, ribbon cables and other components can be quickly removed without damage. A special Samsung chip was also found on the board - it seems that these are the company’s first headphones with such a SoC.

The PCB is easy to detach from the ribbon cable. But replacing the battery will be a difficult task - for this you will have to unsolder the miniature contacts and remove the glue. Difficult, but possible.

It's easy enough to get inside and remove the motherboard, meaning that if you want to replace any components, you can do so without damaging the device.

However, as a result, the Galaxy Buds Pro are quitelow score for repairability - only 3 out of 10. iFixit called this a step back, but compared to the Galaxy Buds Live, which has as many as 8 points. But this is still better than AirPods Pro, which earned 0 points and are completely unrepairable.
