Two tons of oil products got into the lake of the Chelyabinsk region

In the technical channel of Lake Ulagach, where the Argayash Thermal Power Plant discharges wastewater, oil was found on the surface

spots.On Thursday, January 28, rescuers and heads of other services went to the scene to prevent contamination of the reservoir and eliminate the spill, the press service of the regional search and rescue service reports. 

At the site, rescuers discovered an oily film, after which work was organized to prevent and eliminate the spill, identify the source of pollution and control the composition of the water.

To prevent water pollution in the lake, the forces of the Kyshtym and Mobile detachments placed booms on the canal and organized round-the-clock duty of rescuers.

In order to establish the cause of the appearancespots, specialists from the Argayash thermal power plant, operational groups of the Chelyabinsk fire and rescue garrison and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia were involved. The chemical composition of water is now monitored by specialists from Rosprirodnadzor.

The total area of ​​oil stains was about 100 square meters. No water is drawn from Lake Ulagach, so there is no threat to the population, the press service noted.
