“Ugly and gross”: Google Pixel Watch video teardown from the iFixit team

Google's first smartwatch, dubbed Pixel Watch, has gone on sale and has already fallen into the hands of enthusiasts from

iFixit, specializing in opening and repairgadgets. Disassembling the watch begins with disconnecting the straps, after which you need to pry off the front glass panel, which is firmly seated with glue. From underneath we are greeted by a rather crude and visually unsightly layout with a speaker, the welds of which look frankly collective farm, and a battery covered with yellow tape. Speaking of which, the capacity is 294 mAh - almost half that of the Apple Watch Ultra (543 mAh), but more than the 41mm Apple Watch Series 8 (282 mAh).

It turned out that Google did not provide anyprotection in a rather large speaker hole, which means that the watch is definitely not suitable for divers. Unlike most Apple Watch models, the Pixel Watch's biometric sensors are soldered to the motherboard, making it much easier and cheaper to replace the back glass. But the design of the buttons and the wheel is such that it will not be possible to replace them in case of damage.
