Ukraine handed over engines for new generation attack helicopter ATAK-II to Turkey

Türkiye received two Ukrainian-made engines that will be installed in the new helicopter

generation ATAK-II. This was reported by the Turkish publication SavunmaSanayiST.

What is known

Turksih Aerospace Industries (TAI) received twoengine TV3-117VMA-SBM1V-01T. They will equip the first prototype of a new generation of helicopters. The contract between TAI and the Ukrainian company Motor Sich was signed in 2021. By 2025, Turkey will receive 14 power plants.

The Turkish manufacturer has started working onpromising helicopter in 2019. Development is carried out within the framework of the Ağır Sınıf Taarruz Helikopter program. ATAK-II will go into service with the ground forces and the Turkish Navy.

The helicopter will be able to carry a payload weighing up to1500 kg and reach a speed of 318 km/h. The maximum take-off weight will be 10,000 kg. The ATAK-II will be equipped with a 30 mm cannon, as well as six hardpoints for MKE FFAR, Hydra 70, CRV7, UMTAS, L-UMTAS, Cirit and AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles.
