Ukraine nearly buried its aircraft industry due to sanctions against Russia

The media reported that Ukraine’s refusal to cooperate with Russian enterprises could have a disastrous impact on

aircraft plant "Antonov". Some suggest that because of the sanctions, the production of Ukrainian aircraft may cease altogether.

TV channel "Star" writes that the constructionThe aircraft at the plant depended heavily on Russian components. After the termination of cooperation with Russia, Antonov tried to negotiate with Western suppliers. However, since then the plant has produced only two aircraft - the An-178 and a demonstration copy of the An-132D. It is reported that more than $ 200 million is needed to replace Russian parts.

According to the head of Antonov, the plant’s money is notreceived. Zvezda cites the opinion of experts that the lifting of sanctions can help the enterprise. If this does not happen, the plant may end up shutting down.

Antonov produces military transport, cargo and passenger aircraft.
