The M549 is a US-made 155mm high-explosive projectile. It was designed to increase the range of fire of simple howitzers. The maximum range is 30 km.

Ammunition weighs more than 43 kg.At the same time, the mass of TNT in the M549M1 is 6.8 kg. The conventional M549 rocket-propelled projectiles use Composition B as the explosive and the weight is increased by almost 500g.
Earlier there was information that the gunners of the Armed Forces of Ukraine use the M549A1 only for firing from the M777 trailed howitzers.
