Unchanged on the smartphone market: Huawei is still far from Samsung, and Apple is not good

Analytics company Counterpoint has published results for the second quarter of 2019 on the smartphone market. In three

The leaders remain unchanged, but some managed to increase sales of gadgets, while others continue to decline. But first things first.

Who's in the top three?

Market leader in terms of number of smartphones soldremains the South Korean company Samsung. It sold 76.6 million devices in the quarter, which is 7.1% more than in the same period last year. Now the No. 1 manufacturer has 21.3% of the market.

Next comes Huawei. The Chinese company has not yet managed to overtake Samsung, and it is still far from leadership: Huawei has 56.7 million smartphones sold, that is, 20 million less than Samsung. But this is 4.6% more than last year’s figures. As a result, Huawei has 15.8% of the market.

Apple remains in third place, and everything is already sad here. The company sold 36.4 million iPhones, which is 11.9% less than in the second quarter of 2018.

The company's financial report said smartphone sales fell 12% to $25.99 billion. And for the first time since 2012, revenue from iPhone sales is less than half of Apple's total revenue.

However, Apple now holds 10.1% of the market, but risks losing third place to Xiaomi, which now has 32.3 million sales and 9% of the smartphone market.
