Unmanned vehicles will appear in large cities of Russia from 2021

Self-driving cars will first appear in places where they were previously tested - in Moscow,

St. Petersburg and Tatarstan.

It is planned that by the end of 2021 they will developfederal law, which will describe the powers of government agencies in the field of "policy formation in the field of highly automated and innovative vehicles."

The document will establish the requirements for the carriage of passengers and goods, for the mandatory presence of compulsory motor third party liability insurance (in particular, the maximum tariffs for a new type of transport), the frequency of passing the technical inspection.

Among the controversial questions remains as to who will bear responsibility in the event of violation of traffic rules by a drone.

The set of measures providestrial commercial operation of VATS (highly automated vehicles) in certain regions of the Russian Federation. The implementation of measures will allow, in the period from 2021 to 2024, to create the necessary legal conditions for the introduction of VATS in the transport complex. A prerequisite is to ensure the safety of road users and compliance with established norms and rules.
