Scientists from the UK have developed a new device capable of converting waste
The authors of the new development are a team of researchers at the BioEnergy Centre in Bristol.Scientists have already demonstrated the device, and they have shown that it is possible to obtain low-power energy with the help of urine. The energy can then be used to power light bulbs, mobile phones, and robots. The solution was said to be capable of generating 300 watt-hours of electricity during the five-day festival. That would be enough to power one 1W light bulbwithin 300 hours.
The device is based on what the company calls microbial fuel cells.Microbes feed on organic matter, then chemical energy is produced, which in turn is converted into electrical energy.
Now scientists want to reduce the size of the fuel cells, which have turned out to be too large so far.
