US and South Korea cancel F-22 Raptor exercises due to snowfall - planes return to Japan

On December 20, the United States sent fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighter jets to South Korea to participate in joint exercises.

But the weather had its own plans for this.

What is known

The United States and South Korea have decided to cancel exercises involving F-22 Raptor, F-35A Lightning II and F-15K Eagle fighter jets. The reason was the snowfall. The exercise was scheduled for December 21st.

As a result, American aircraft have returned to Kadena Air Force Base in Japan, where they are temporary replacements for fourth-generation F-15 Eagle fighters that are being decommissioned.

Note that on December 20, along with the F-22 Raptor inSouth Korea sent a nuclear bomber B-52H Stratofortress. It was a response to North Korea, which launched two ballistic missiles over the weekend. The strategic aviation aircraft, apparently, remains in South Korea for the time being.
