US Government Offers $ 10 Million Reward for Information on DarkSide Hacking Group

Let us recall that in May of this year, as a result of an attack using a ransomware virus, the

pipeline through which 45% is transportedfuel used on the US East Coast. The Colonial Pipeline hacking incident led to panic buying and heightened concerns about the threat posed by hacks to the nation's infrastructure.

The US State Department has decided to strengthenpressure on hackers and is offering a reward of up to $10 million to anyone who can reveal the “identity or location” leaders of the group responsible for this – organization known as DarkSide.

In addition to the 10 million rewarddollars, the State Department is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of “any person conspiring to participate or attempt to participate in the DarkSide variant ransomware incident”.

What exactly this means is unclear.Is “an extortion incident in the DarkSide variant” the one related to the group's hacking tools? What if the software has been slightly modified? The wording appears to be deliberately ambiguous, allowing the State Department to cast as wide a net as possible.

So if you are not a city crazy and really know something, there is a good chance to earn extra money.
