US launches world's first commercial hydrogen-fueled steam

The Sea Change ferry is almost built and ready to operate in San Francisco Bay in the third quarter of this year.It works

on compressed hydrogen gas passing through a fuel cell.the first of its kind, operating for two days on the same tank.

Sea Change is a 22 m high passenger ferry,which is capable of carrying 84 passengers at a time. Twin 300 kW (400 horsepower) electric motors will accelerate it to a top speed of 22 knots (41 km / h).

Sea Change will carry around 246 kg of hydrogen gas compressed at a pressure of 250 bar(~ 1,633 kg per 0.4 cm²) in its tanks.

A large fuel cell converts this hydrogen into electricity.

The ferry is 98% ready and will be launched in the third quarter of 2021.
