US to send fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighter jets to Japan to replace F-15 Eagle

The Japanese island of Okinawa, where the US Air Force air base is located, will not be left without American

Fighters.

What is known

We wrote that the United States has decidedwithdraw fourth-generation McDonnel Douglas F-15C / D Eagle all-weather fighters from the Kadena base. These are the only Eagles in service with modern AESA radars.

The United States plans to withdraw 48 aircraft from the airbase44th and 67th Fighter Squadrons for two years. US Air Force officials said they would send rotating squadrons to Okinawa.

Thus, fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighters will be deployed at the Kadena airbase. The first planes to Japan will be poisoned from Alaska. They will remain at the military facility for six months.

About a dozen F-22 Raptor aircraft are expected to arrive in Japan within a few weeks. A roughly comparable number of F-15 Eagle fighters will depart from Okinawa for the United States.
